Baby Tenda, Throwing the baby out
Baby Tenda, Throwing the baby out
By Fiona McAlisterI have to plead guilty to having been one of those who decried the little black dress or the LBD's as they were dubbed by the masses and I would avoid them like the plague for a party thinking they were downright dull and boring. But you know what, I have been casting around with some of the new designers and there are some stunning new arrivals to delight the eye and I'm going to add them again to my party roster. In fact I have been tempted to have more of them than anything else in the quiver. I guess the trouble was that we all succumbed to the general malaise of expecting the LBD's to fit a preconceived notion of young married becoming very young matron not wearing anything daring or non traditional or even chic. Well, phooey to that. How outdated can you get? I'll cite some terrific examples of what I mean. Try Jenni Kayne for instance. She has a Tie Tank at ShopBop for $250 and it's a little charmer. Tunic tank in soft silk with a ruched neckline, surged hem and side detail. Contrast straps tie at shoulders. It's deceptively simple, thigh high which really appeals to me and I can't wait to take it to the next event.Or how about Sari Gueron's Lace Jacket with Flower Detail? It's a short-sleeved jacket in cotton lace with beading, flower, and feather detail and a silk-chiffon lining. It's also good and short and just a bit more pricey at $899. oh well! You can't have everything!A couple more for good measure? OK This one's a rocket. Rachel Roy's Raz Tunic Dress. This is a shift with a delicate sheen. Appliqué and metallic stitching detail. Front zip pockets. The exposed back zip is outlined on red seam which stands out and screams. This one will definitely get the tongues wagging! It's $1,095And last but not least. And I'm going to cheat! It's not a LBD! But rather a gorgeous Open Back Dress by Thakoon. Fine-knit sweater dress in a soft wool blend. Ribbed band at scoop back. Elastic waistband and ribbed edges. It's a beautiful rich Royal Blue. Btw price is $1,095 and worth every penny. The back is to die for. Just look and tell me it's not the living end!My LBD collection is pretty darn nice, don't you think? I've completely re-thought my LBD attitude. I almost tend to look there first now. And some of the new designers are making me drool. How about you?

Baby Tenda, Make Your Own Baby Shower Gift Basket Full of Goodies
Baby Tenda, Make Your Own Baby Shower Gift Basket Full of Goodies
A new baby deserves the best. They should be showered with gifts. A beautiful basket filled with items like toys, books, food and clothes, is a great way to ensure the new infant receives everything he or she needs.A good gift basket should be filled with practical, useful items. Things that parents can use the day the infant arrives. Making your own baby shower gift basket is a great way to incorporate your own personal touch.
What to buy
The first step is to decide on a theme or cohesive components for your gift basket. You can create a ?bath time? basket by filling an infant washtub with shampoos, soaps, washcloths, towels, robes and toys. If you are familiar with the nursery theme, include decorative items like: crib bedding, hanging mobile and a night light.
A basket full of daily necessities is always appreciated. Fill it with feeding supplies, teething rings, pacifiers, diapers, wipes and changing pads. Make a special treat for mom and dad and give them a basket full of snacks. Include cookies, crackers, coffee and teas for those late nights with baby.
Which basket
Once a theme is selected and the goods are purchased, find an ppropriate basket that will showcase the items. It is also important to ensure it is big enough to hold everything. You can also use buckets, pails and flowering pots, which can be purchased at any craft shop, florist or hardware store.
A small baby cradle can be turned into a ?good night? gift basket. Paint the cradle to match the nursery colors and fill it with bedtime favorites like pajamas, books, lullaby CDs and blankets.
How to decorate
The next step is to decorate the basket to reflect the expectant parent?s personality. Customize the gift with colorful wraps, bows, flowers, stickers or cards. A beautiful Moses Basket is a creative, unique gifting option. Line it with a plush blanket and decorate with pink or blue ribbon. Wrap the items in colorful, cellophane wrap. Tie the bundle with a bow and place it in the basket. Top off with a cute, cuddly, plush animal with coordinating trim.
Nothing?s better than getting a gift ? especially when it is piled high with presents. Make sure all of mom & dad?s needs are met by giving them a one-of-a-kind baby shower gift basket.
